I wanted to keep the same radiator that was with the motor I was going to use. I used the original holes in the inner fenders and drilled holes in the radiator mount to match, spot welded nuts on so that the inner fenders fit as original.
The above pictures shows that I added a different top. The original was damaged and I found a better one at the local U-pull,n Pay.
Next - Body modifications

After doing research and checking Tex Smith's book on Chopping tops I took some side view pictures and did some cut and paste to see how much to chop. I came up with 2". I didn't want the rear window chopped so this is how I did the chop. I started by tapping off where to chop using 1" tape. NOTICE - Weld in temporary bracing inside the cab to prevent it from shifting before cutting.
Next - Welding to fit.

Nice work. Looking forwards to seeing the door chop. Was the channel decision an afterthought that you installed the inner fenders and radiator mount before dropping the fenders and hood?
No, the fenders are not dropped and the hood was Pancaked.

Oh OK, I was confused I thought the chop was ongoing now, pix were done recently and the finished truck was a previous project. Now I understand. I'd like to see more detail pix of your front flip hood hinges and latching method.

Motor, transmission, cross member - next

Reason: out of order
The motor choice was easy. I have a 79 Ford Bronco that was heading for the scrap yard and the motor was a 351M with the rear sump. This would work fine for clearing the Jag IFS cross member. After having it rebuilt by a friend and using upgraded parts from Tim Meyer it's now a 408 Stroker. The transmission is a T5z from Modern Driveline and I had the 5 gear changed to a .73. Check the Build Sheet in previous post for more detail about the motor.
Now the dress up.

"If it's under control, you're not going fast enough"
To match the change of the channeling cab drop, I pancaked (sectioned) the hood 3". I also had to modify the cowl sides to conform to the back of the hood curve.
Again-using 1" tape I marked off 3" to be removed.

"Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today, you might like it and want to do it again"
48 did you box the frame all the way?
What did you do for tranny xmember?
I boxed the frame from behind the first cross member to the cross member behind the cab. I added a cross member, to the rear, above the IRS. The transmission cross member is fabricated and is shown in earlier pictures.
