Just how hot should the wheel get? I turned mine on tonight for the first time, and I couldn't tell any difference in temperature. Is it supposed to warm it up to a standard temperature, or does it warm to the same as the temp setting for your cab?
Although I don't have it in mine, I'm assuming it's like my wife's Durango which is warm almost instantly. I can feel heat in less than a minute on her car's... probably more like 30 seconds. Long before the heated seats get going or the cab heat. If you're not feeling it, something is wrong...
I have one and it gets pretty hot - to the point I have to turn it off. Eventually even the top (fake) wood part will get hot. That takes a little time though - maybe 15 minutes or so. I don't wear gloves as you can't use the phone with them - and I use it to warm my hands up.
The temp that the vehicle is set to doesn't seem to matter.
And this is when the temps are in the teens and the inside of the truck starts out that way too.
I am making a list myself. So you are not alone here.
I am up to several things on my new 2015...
1. Hill Start Assist - works when it wants to and then works all the time
2. Rear Beep sensors are not working. Cleaned them a bunch of times and they go off immediately when I go in reverse and show alternating colors on the rear camera screen when you are not moving and nothing behind you is moving.
3. I am making oil. Oil level is overfull.
4. Coolant is low - but that may just be because its cold out.
5. Check rapid supplemental heater.
6. Awful fuel economy, might be why I am making oil (stuck injector?)
7. When I plug in the block heater, exactl what is supposed to happen? I notice no difference between plugging in a few hours before I leave and not. No temp levels are different in the truck either.

I remote start my truck in the morning so everything is nice and toasty when I get in. When I get in, I set the temp to 75 and turn on the steering wheel heat but about halfway to work I reduce the temp to 70 and the steering wheel temp seems to reduce as well.
My wife's hands are always cold. The day we bought the truck, she tried to turn on the steering wheel heater with the AC on and it didn't warm up at all.
Ken,
If you don't have the top of the line Plat, then no, the Lariats don't get them without going to the Plat level.
Dak,
The DLR is a simple computer setting that I have had done on my last 2 Superduties, then informed my insurance company for another discount due to them being automatic.
Great free thing to do to these trucks. The dealer should program it for you while it is in for your warranty work. Guess I need to go check my oil level..... Does your truck idle allot?

My GMC when plugged in would melt snow on the hood.
My SD doesn't even feel warm under the hood.
I went as far as making up a short 3 wire extension cord so I could use an amp probe and test the draw. The readings were consistent with a 750 heater.
BTW, with my block heater I now use one of these timers.
Can be set by time or temp or both.
