So 29 years later, my F250's window/door weatherstripping and windshield moldings are in need of replacing.
I had my windshield guy come out yesterday and I wanted a quote for how much it would be for him to replace ALL of the weatherstripping on the doors, weatherstripping around the windows, the vent window frames and the windshield trim.
He said $300 for the labor alone. I'd be responsible for ordering all of the parts.
It isn't a "good" deal, but it may be a "fair" deal. There is a fair amount of work involved in pulling the doors apart to replace the window runs and the vent window seals. I did the window runs and the pieces on the door and door panel recently and it was a significant job.
But is he just replacing the windshield trim or also pulling the windshield to redo the goo that seals it to the cab? The trim is easy to replace, but pulling the windshield isn't.
I don't know. They show the vent window seals go 80 - 86 and then another for 87 - 91. But they show the same glass fitting both. And they don't list a frame for 80 - 86. So, I would call them before ordering.
Having said that, this shot from the catalog seems to say that the same one fits 80 - 89 as this catalog goes across that timeframe and "80/" is supposed to mean "from 80 to end of catalog". So, the ones you listed should fit.
Also the 80-86 windows are different from the 87-91
I suggest going to the junk yard and getting a good pair of wing windows. The order a set of rubber seats for them.
Also, I don't know how mechanically capable you are but changing out the window weather strips(complete door) is about 1 hour each door.
So your guys caring about $150 and hour seems high to me. But maybe he doesnt want to do it so he priced it high
I work on cars for a living mainly in the body shop, so ill give you my opinion. If the dude was pulling the windshield and door windows id pay him the 300, but if he's just pulling the trim on the windshield and taking the doors apart id pay him 200 maybe 250 but id ask him to grease up the gears and tracks will he's got the doors apart.
btw if i dont want it mess with something ill price it high to make it worth it.
It took me about a year to get my '81 in shape. I used LMC almost exclusively. Interior stuff, floor mat, bumpers, all weatherstrips, all the chrome all the way around the whole truck, mirrors, emblems, etc.
Not sure why some folks do not like them. Everything that I bought from them (and that's a lot!) was top notch and fit perfectly. They even took back a handful of unused parts that I had ordered six months later, no questions asked.
I guess different folks have different experiences.
I would say that $300 is pretty fair if the window and vent rubbers and felts are included. I did mine myself and they can be a little bit tricky and time consuming but really not that difficult. The door rubbers are a snap. Both windshield rubbers however should be left to the pros in my opinion.

Apparently YOUR idea of quality and mine are two totally different things. Have you ever work on any other vehicle to gauge QUALITY parts?
Other than $234 compared to $203 from LMC? I would probably have to order the window channel as well, which would then bump up the price considerably from LMC, but Blue Oval doesn't sell the channel from what i'm seeing...their site is pretty hard to navigate through.
