Hey I am certain this question has been asked many times but I still haven't learned how to navigate real well in this forum. I recently purchased a 2000 F350 and of course my sons want me to chip it and put a new exhaust on it. I am not sure what to look for. Many exhaust systems to choose from. Too many. Anyway, I'm seeking advice on what would be good. I do not want anything radicle. Just to improve performance and mileage some if possible. I do not pull a fifth wheel but do load it down with a ton or two more than once per week.
Thanks for any info.
a free flowing 4 inch exhaust or stock with no muffler at all, an exhaust temp gauge, and a 80 hp economy tune will really wake it up.
i use the DP tuner F-5 chip with stock, 80 econo, 60 tow, and 120 race tunes.
99.999% of the time the truck is in econo tune.
stay with a chip though, they have custom tunes, and are easily removed by either turning th echip off, or unplugging it from the computer. unlike the programers where you have to download the tune to the computer, they sometimes screw up when trying to return to stock and disable the computer requiring towing the truck to a dealer for a reflash.
Hey thanks for the info. That sounds good. Next dumb question is where do I get this stuff? Larger auto parts stores? And DP is brand name? Wonder if wife would get it for me for Christmas or I could get it for her!
and yes, DP is a brand. Jody and Diane are good people. they have a few different chips. from the basic F-5 to the new hydra.
the F-5 has to be programed at their facility. with the F-6 and hydra you can load the tunes to the chip off your own computer. plus with the F-6, and probably the hydra, you can test the tunes for free before purchasing them to see what you want to run.
