update

Well, finally about one year after my brakes went out it looks like I'm back in buisness for a while.

My summer job, which is winding down to an end, was working at a wrecking yard going through a large warehouse of parts sorting them out. This gave me the perfect opportunity to find parts for swapping. Not only that but another man whom used to own a speed shop works up there too and I'm learning quite a bit about all kinds of things from Fords, to brand x, and Jap stuff.

As we went through the drums I measured them to see if any would be able to replace the front ones on my '52. I got me a set of '78 F-150 rear drums and with a quick check through the "superdos" invitory program I found that the rear drums from at least '78 through '93 F-150s fit, and they may go back to the '60s and up to todays, but these seem to be the ones that fit.

The drums cost $32 after getting them turned and everything, and then I discovered a set of shoes laying on one of the shelfs from a closed down auto parts store that were exsactly like my old ones. Got those for $10. Needless to say, this college guy is very happy.

I started to install a harnest durring spring break from an '87 Ford pickup and it seems like I just have 2 more wires to take care of and I'll be all set. The only thing left now is to patch up the upoulstry (sp?) and put in the bed wood.

But now here comes the sad part. After all this work and finnaly having the truck almost completely complete, I decided that it's time for it to go. Due to college and what not I'm getting rid of the truck. So I guess in a few weeks or months I will be less one '52 and won't have any vehicle to ask tech questions about here. But don't worry, I'll still visit you guys. Besides, I got the '47 and older forum to take care of.

Well keep 'em up guys.

Clayton

Wow, I really like your truck too. That must really suck to give it away(well not exactly give) after you finally got it built up. Yes stick around the forum, we need as much input(we got plenty of humor) as we can get. Oh well, at least you got a 47' to work on. This decision will probably be your worst, so think long and hard again about it. Later, -4speed

Clay,
So sorry to hear you have to part with your truck. I understand though that things happen. Please don't feel like you can't remain active with FTE. You are a GREAT addition to FTE and I think I speak for the gang when I say, "Please stay"! You've always given good advice and tips, and it would suck to lose you. So please, please stay around, OK?

Really sorry about your truck. But remember, things could change around and the next truck won't be far away!

Regards,
Daryl

Do you have any nice nearby friends? Sell them the truck to store it until you could buy it back. My dad now wishes he didn't sell his '69 Ford Mustang Mach 1.

Of course I'm not going to leave, leave (if you know what I mean), I am a moderator. I just won't be asking quite as much questions about stuff. I'll probribly be out of the whole working on trucks for a few years till I get done with college or something. It would be really nice to have a place to work on the '41 at college, but my funds are going completly to college for now. Come to think about it, I should have plenty of time for FTE with no truck. Thanks for everything.

Clay,
I'm sorry to hear that you are forced to sell your truck.
I know you'll still be moderating over on the "47 and older" forum, but I hope that you will still stop in here once in a while.

Good luck to you with college!

I hope to have mine finished before University. If not I'll leave it at my parents farm and visit it every other weekend with nice goodies.
