My 96 f350 7.3L has been giving me fits since last year. I have a plow on it and used it a lot last year with all the snow. It started to shift really hard in about 2nd gear. it was a high rpm then slam into gear. After that time my speedometer, tachometer, interior dome lights and high beams all went out. As well as not able to start from yhe ignition. My o/d light flashes. Now its really bad. The truck cannot seem to recognize the gears and 4x4 doesn't seem to be engaging right. I was having a problem where if I put it into 2 high at a stop the truck would jump and die out. Now the needle to identify the gear on the column broke. I'm almost shifting blind but when I'm in park the truck sometimes goes into reverse. It sometimes seems as if the shifter is off 1 to the right. I've been reading the forums and will check the TSS as well as the fuses. Most of my friends are telling me to get rid of the truck but I'm convinced its not a major trans problem. I'd like to prove them wrong. Please help
If the OD-OFF light is blinking, there's a code stored. Is the speedometer still inop? Does the odometer display a number, just one that doesn't change? Or is the odometer blank?

If you read enough you would have learned that a '96 doesn't HAVE a TSS. You might mean VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) and you do have one of those on the rear axle. I doubt that is your problem.
With all of the electrical things that quit working it's no wonder your electronically controlled transmission is having problems. Find and fix the electrical issues and I'm almost certain the trans will be fine again.
If you get the codes read you will have a starting place to begin the diagnosis. The places that read codes free CANNOT read these codes. You need either a good independent shop or a Ford dealer.

Or your own device known to be capable of communicating with our trucks (which is what a LOT of us choose to use).
