engine trouble. help with diagnose please.

my 74 f350 sat for a week, the engine is a 351m or 400 ,not original to the truck. I started it. it ran for about a minute with my foot on the gas to warm her up. i backed off the throttle she just quit fast, and wont start now.

i have power to the coil, and the test light lights up from negative on the coil to positive on the batterie. i did go to napa and buy and replace the coil anyway .

it gets gas to carb and i spray either and nothing,

i thought maybe i flooded it, let it sit overnight and today no start.

its raining now but what is next to try? thanks

Well, if it won't fire with ether, I'd look to the ignition system next. Sounds like you verified that the coil is good; check to see if you're getting a spark.

Try to use genuine Autolite condenser and points, the replacement points available today are mostly junk and the condensers even worse.

I personally wouldn't invest too much time & money into making the old school points & condenser work when there are so many electronic ignition options available.
