Inner fender panel

Im looking at a 1948 F1 that is missing the front inner fender panels. Do they have to be F1 panels or do the other models fit?

Welcome to the forum! The inner fender panels are the same for F1-6 trucks. But they do differ by years, so for your 48 you'll want to look for 48-50 panels. 51's and 52's are different, even from each other.

Thank you for the response. Just trying to see how hard they will be to find. The truck Im looking at is rust free with a 390 and truck 4 speed, oldsmobile rear axle. The owner says it cruises down the road with a small enclosed utility no problem. Asking $5,000 for it.

Shouldn't be too terribly tough to find a good set. There's a lot of them out there, and the larger trucks especially get parted out regularly. If it runs and drives, is solid and complete, it may not be a bad buy.

I'm curious what's holding the front end sheet metal on, if there are no inner fenders? They support the whole front end.

Sounds like only the running board and rad support fender brace. The fenders are probably kinda floppy, and the hood likely doesn't fit too good, either.

I took a closer look at the truck today and decided not to purchase it. It looked like the radiator support was holding everything together.

The radiator support does hold everything together. That's the way they were designed so the frame could flex without tearing up the sheet metal.

This truck is in Washington state. Go to Craigslist skagit and search 1948 ford to see a picture.

This one? A Super Christmas Gift

Looks like a decent enough truck at a decent price.

This truck also has fiberglass lower front fenders, the gas tank is mounted to the drivers side of the bed. He thought the engine and transmission came out of a 1966 ford wrecker. It was a basket case that the guy assembled. I guess I'm looking to start with a clean canvas truck that has not been modified already. Most trucks I have seen are 5 to six hour drive from me, this one was 10 minutes away.

Are you going for a stock truck as the finished product?

No, I plan on using a 302 with automatic, install fuel tank under the bed, add power steering, 9" rear end and improve the ride. This will be my daily driver. I will sell my 1994 f150 super cab that just turned over 100,000 miles.
