So this past weekend I started my truck... It fired up fine... I moved it and parked it and turned it off... Now I went out and tried to start it and nothing... I have full operation of all accessories but when I turn the key nothing... All the accessories go off when I turn the key just like it used too... I took the starter off and bench tested it and it spun just fine with the gear popping out just like it's supposed too... The starter is less than a year old... Where do I go next? Could someone give me some direction as I don't have money just to throw money at it and I'm able to do some basic testing
Start at the batteries and follow the larger cables. If they are loose or are corroded, clean and tighten. If it were me I would make sure that the batteries were in top notch shape before doing anything else.
Does this truck sit for long periods of time. If so, you may want to look into investing in a battery maintainer(not a trickle charger)to keep the batteries in peak condition, I now use CTEK's on all of my trucks if they are going to sit for over a couple of weeks. I got tired of replacing batteries due to sulfation.
