Paging NumberDummy
I'm now working on the engine of my 1960 F-100 undergoing its concours restoration. When you have an opportunity, please validate the following part numbers, as I suspect they may have been superseded:
-B5AZ-6108-C (piston assembly, .003" oversize)
-B5A-6108-D/F (piston assembly, .020 and .030" oversize)
All parts are for a 1960 292 (M/D)
Thanks again for you assistance!
F350Napco: The only Flareside bed available for 1953/72 F350's was the 9' Express. However, the DRW's are an aftermarket conversion as 1980 was the first year that Ford offered an F350 DRW pickup.
1957/66 F350's were also available with the 9' Styleside Express bed.
A pal of mine and fellow FTE member (wagonerki) lives in Sedro-Woolley, has a 1965 F350 9' Flareside. He lives in a 3 story Victorian that was originally built by a lumberman, but it's not as ornate as the one in Holcomb that was also built by a lumberman. I've also been there, as the Early Ford V8 Club toured this house many years ago.
If you whiz over to Twisp, you'll see when you first enter town from the west on Highway 20, a 1956 Ford C600 wrecker parked next to a repair shop. On the other side of Twisp, there's a 1930 Model AA Flatbed mounted high upon a sign, and just south, there's a field with a whole bunch of old rolling piles of misery parked in retirement including an early 1950's Dodge wrecker.
There's a mangy unrestored Mack Bulldog parked in a shed in Brewster along with ancient farm equipment. There's another Mack Bulldog that has been restored in the Cascades Museum.
Another FTE member (I forget his name) owns a hotel on East Park Street in Waterville, it's located across the street from the former Ford dealer. Guy has a few trucks/tractors and other ancient rusty yard art scattered around the place.
From the 1957/63 Ford Truck Parts Catalog-final printing 1970:
Right now, I'm trying to figure out how duals were mounted to a factory axle on this pickup. Can't imagine how the spacing of the axle width could be the same on a SRW as on a DRW to clear the pickup bedsides, given the difference in the offset of the rims. And yes, the rear hubs are sticking out all the way.
Also wondering if you have any idea if aftermarket reproduction steel fenders that are available for F100s will fit a 9' box. And, if there are any differences in cab floor contours between the F100s and the F350s.
And I'm trying to get a general feel about the uniqueness of the truck. Ever seen or heard of a 57 Ford with a 9' box, and dual wheel four wheel drive..? Looks like everything was done back in the day, and this is not a hillbilly deal that was put together. Supposedly delivered to Weyerhaeuser Timber Co. as is.
Thanks, Dan K.
B7C-16312-A (replaced BAAA-16312-A) Right & B7C-16313-A (replaced BAAA-16313-A) Left .. Flareside Rear Fenders / Obsolete
Applications: 1953/79 F100/350.
The DRW were probably added when the truck was converted to 4WD
Welcome back. Is the Sedro Wooley truck an ex state park vehicle? Dark green? I think I saw it listed for sale many years back.
