Deltas

I'm running 190-195 ect ; and 207-214 Eoc temp. Should I change oil cooler? Truck is all stock. Just changed t-stat and did flush.

2005 450 all stock. 103xxx miles

Was this after driving 15 miles at 60 mph. Not towing or pulling a grade?.

I pushed EOTs of 256 while towing a 32 ft camper this summer. I ran a 20 degree delta unloaded after returning from the trip.

So, yes, if you are running the test correctly, an oil cooler or oil cooler bypass valve is in order.

This is running 60-65 empty. But my truck does weigh in at 11k. I run a utility bed loaded up as a mechanics truck.

Do you still have your egr cooler? If so, the delta is important.

If you have a delete and with your setup, I would track my eot and do something if the eots hit 235 a lot.

Be sure to run the test after 25 minutes of running, run 5 miles at 60, then run 5 miles at 60 on flat ground. You will see the delta stabilize. I've got a stretch of interstate that is perfect for this.

Again, I would be concerned if my EOTs got over 235-240 often in everyday driving .... With no egr chamber. I am very uncomfortable with EOTs of 240 of you have an egr cooler.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've never seen Eot go over 214. I'll get on a long stretch of road and see what it does.

I'm surprised by that considering the 19 degree delta. Watch your eot. Anything more than 230 may push an egr rupture, which cascades to head gaskets.

Time for an oil cooler. Use let and flush before you swap. Good luck.

I wouldn't tow with it until the oil cooler is changed.

Check for wear on the oil cooler bypass valve and replace the oil filter base if the bypass valve looks bad. You can't get just the valve. Surly someone will develop a $25-$35 kit in the next few years for that instead of having to purchase the $200 filter base.

Clean egt, map, iat2 while there. Clean you intake at a carwash. Could clean the turbo. Install an egr delete if desired. Good time for a turbo back exhaust if desired. 6.4 bango bolts???? depending on how you fall on the subject.

Thanks

Have a steam cleaner to hit the intake with, and a new oil cooler on the way with a bullet proof egr cooler from a friend. We will see what happens.
