I have a 94 5.8L F250. Purchased the truck used and from day one it has not run right. I replaced the following: Module, Rotor, Dist Cap. Spark plug wires, Plugs, O2 Sensor, EGR Valve along with EVP Sensor, TPS sensor, Intake Air Temperature Sensor, Bypass Air Idle Speed, Fuel Pressure Regulator,Engine Coolant Temp Sensor. The truck runs great when it is cold, usually for about 10-15 mins but when it heats up, it is more than sluggish, it has NO power. Occassionally backfires but not often. THe guys at a muffler shop noticed that the Catalytic converter was VERY hot and they suggested that i might have a stuck open injector, I checked 5 of the injectors with a NOID testor but i cant get to the other 3 without removing the throttle body,,,,which I am less than enthused about doing. COuld it be a stuck injector? I poured a pint of super injector cleaner in and nothing changed. I am desperate, PLEASE HELP.....short of jacking up the radiator cap and putting a new truck under it, i will go to any lenghts to cure this, my manlyhood is at stake here. PLEASE HELP ME!!
You can check the codes with a paper clip, There is no reason spending any money on a reader. Looks like you replaced every sensor on your rig! One thing you should do is check the fuel pressure when hot. Some fuel pumps when they are ageing tend to puke out when running warm.
Don’t forget to check the timing! It really made a difference on my 88 250 5.0. It was at 4 BTDC bumped it up to 12, and it runs much beater, throttle response improved to.
Just run a search and you will get tons of info on setting the timing and spout connector location.
Late timing can cause the cat to heat up and the truck to backfire.
