Here is a video of all the upgrades that I have done to my 05 EB Excursion since I bought it in 2011.
I forgot to mention a few items in the video so here they are: Stant Coolant Bottle cap (very important), iTSX (used with my iPad) from SCT, Matching Full Size Spare Tire and Wheel, Door Seal Mod, Rear Lift Gate Arms (Monroe 901466), Hellwig 1902 rear helper springs, Innovative Diesel 1859IDP FICM tuner. And more to come....
I get more compliments about Duke (11 yo, German Rottweiler) than I do my truck. Yes, he is getting a little gimpy in his old age, but he is a great dog (in our case a son since we don't want kids). Mrs Patriotic Rottweiler gives him supplements for his joints but it is mainly just his right front elbow. Must be from jumping out of the boat too many times to swim in Crystal River.
He has his own couch in the house and I even built him an 8x8x7 air conditioned (10,000 BTU) dog house on the back porch for while we are at work. With a double coat and the Florida heat it was a must.
I only watched the first but while I was watching it, I kept thinking of the old guy from Jurassic Park (the owner/creator guy) and him saying: "spared no expense". 'Cuz it certainly seems like you've spared no expense.
I just installed an Easy Step System boat trailer set of steps on my trailer. If you have a boat this is a really great product that can make your life much easier.
I completely agree in the need to switch to aluminum instead of the wood on the Flex Step. It was initially a MacGyver fix and it would give me a template as to what size aluminum pieces I would need, but so far it is working out great like it is. It is really nice to be able to use that step to turn the key and crank the engine without having to go all the way into the boat (also for checking gas level).
Im sure at some point I’ll replace the wood. Too many projects going on right now, but since I just retired I’ll have to put this on the list of things to do.
Like your boat trailer step, but the pressure treated lumber against the aluminum will cause corrosion, get some aluminum instead.
Thank You for calling me out on the bracket. This was something that I had planned on addressing but never did.
I ordered (2) 3/8”x10”x8” aluminum plates from Amazon and got the SS hardware at my local Rural King. Then it was only a matter of measuring and drilling. Now the bracket is complete and rock solid.
That oughta work. Looks like the pitting had started, you can clean it up with a stainless steel wire brush or stainless steel wire wheel on a hand held grinder. don't use plain steel wire as it will leave steel particles on it that will rust.
Tagged for later. The cleatus description video doesn't show up anymore. Does anybody have a link to that video? I would like to learn more about this mod. Did you have the switch custom made with description, or do they have the switch for purchase on their website?
