Ok my truck just quit running and it won't start back up.
The check engine light won't even come on when you turn the key on. It will crank over but not start. Also the fuel pump is not priming. Gonna start doin some test but chime in with your thoughts.
Is the vehicle your having problems with the 1988 one in your signature???? If so, which engine does it have??? If at KOEO the CEL isn't lit & you can't hear the fuel pump run for a couple of seconds to prime the fuel system for a start, look to a power problem to the engine computer. The under hood computer power relay, or fuse to the power relay are good suspects, maybe along with a faulty body to engine ground connection. Let us know what you find.
Sounds like a bad computer. The fuel pump relay grounds through the computer. That's why when you turn the ignition on (but don't start the engine) the fuel pump primes for a few seconds and then shuts off. The computer makes the pump turn on for a seconds and then turns it off. Since the fuel pump is not priming and the check engine light doesn't turn on (which is also controlled by the computer), that makes me think the computer is the problem.
I would check the EEC relay first though. If that's bad, the computer won't turn on and will also cause these symptoms.
Yes it's the truck in my sig, but I found the problem and fixed it. A ground from the battery for the EEC relay, fuel pump relay, and wot relay was broke off. Fix it and she fired right up. Thanks for y'all's quick reply.
