Tom. Has it stopped raining yet? Next question, are you able to move the shift lever with very very little effort, not enough to move the indicator yet feel the shifting lever tapping the shift tube lifting up and setting down? If you can how much play? Has anybody else been able to check out their sloppy shifter, um not how I wanted to ask!! Has any of this information helped anybody?

Rain stopped, then it snowed, now that has stopped and now it's just cold. I've been helped by this thread, I got my indicator lined up now but I still have shifter slop here. I have a lot of play at the first joint where the shift lever connects to the aluminum piece. The shifter arm itself is reamed out at the pin and I suppose I need a new arm. And I have play at the lower end of the column. It is hard to see where from there though.

it finally stopped today. i am going to try getting back into it tomorrow.
the movement in the video is from one finger on the shifter effort.
everything moves, shifter, indicator, and shift tube.
the shift tube does not move in the column, the clamps are tight and the bushings are good.
it stayed partially in reverse again today, and i almost rolled into a new caddy. the trailer ball was only 1 inch away from the front plate on the caddy when i got out.
it is a 2 part problem.
part #1: the upper shift tube bushing had a little play that i did not see until i took the clamp off.
i made a shim from .015 cardboard and wrapped it around the bushing and then clamped it back down, and probably 60% of the play went away.
part #2:
the roll pin holding the shift handle into the center part of the shift tube was very loose and ready to fall out.
this let the shift handle hole get slightly oversized, causing the rest of the play. i drove the pin back in and put it back together until i can get a new shift handle.
