I have a 360 in my 72 F100. The choke was hinky and once I fixed this the engine will not stop flooding itself out. The carb also leaks from every orfice possible. So its time for a rebuild or a replacement. The problem is I can't figure out what the hell this thing is. It has motorcraft on the body, and was rebuilt by autoline at some point. The casting has 1.2 stamped on it. I don't know if this is a mutt or if it is just something I cannot find the googles on.

One of the simplest carbs ever to work on but also one of the jankiest auto chokes ever. I hoard 65-69 pickup carbs so I always have one with a manual choke to rebuild for any projects.
All that aside, I fail to see how "fixing" the choke could cause the symptoms you describe.
Initially the tube that supplies heat to the thermostat was broken off and was just dangling in the engine compartment. I thought it was a choke problem, the choke was just masking how if flooded itself out. Time for a rebuilt carb
Yupp its an Autolite. Had the same leaky 2bbl that dumped fuel from the acceleration pump onto the intake. On a 360 as well. Just replace the darn thing with a holley unless you really want to mess around with an old 2 barrel
