I need some replacement Headlight bulbs for my 2003 Ford f-150. I have no idea what to get. HID conversions are way too expensive. I was thinking about the Mtec? please help me. All i want are the brightest bulbs under 100 dollars. Also would I need to replace any of the wiring if I get differnt bulbs? Will I need to replace the wiring if I got the mtecs? I do not want to replace any wiring, Please help me with the best brand and type i need. Thanks
I just put in some blue HID bulbs I got off of E-Bay for about $15.00 Then I put another set in the fog lights for $11.00 and finally did a little modification with the same fog light bulbs and added them to my corner lights to come on with the high beams for added light. I think they work well and are brighter than the stock bulbs. If you are looking to spend more $ than shop around otherwise, I recommend getting a pair of hid bulbs and go with it. Cheap anyway!
There isn't such a thing as HID Bulbs. If there is, then its mislabled. What you probably used were bulbs that are tinted to LOOK like HID bulbs. Real HID lights look blue at night because of the contrast.
HID stands for HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE. HID lights use a special housing and draw an arc through the HID capsule with a 35000 volt source. This creates a near daylight brightness. In order to get real HID lights you would have to replace the entire headlight assy and wire in the HID transformer.
The replacement HID kit usually runs $500 to $700.
Well, from the question Wakesnowb asked, I don't think he is looking for a $500 to $700 upgrade but thank you for the correction. True, they are not HID lights as you stated but give a bright, bluish-white color and work rather well for the cost. Seems much cheaper than spending hundreds on replacement systems. Either way you look at it Wakesnowb, you now have some more information in your quest for lighting. Hope this helps.
