Fuel Filter Light

what does it mean when the fuel filter light comes on up hills, i've had cloged fuel fiters before does not act like a cloged fiter, does the light come on when fuel is low in the filer housing like a bad transfer pump the truck has 326,000 miles so i think it cood be this, any help, ideas!

What year truck? Is it the water in the fuel light?

sorry it's a 1996 psd f350 crewcab, no its not water in fuel light,

change the filter, the light comes from filter restriction. your using alot of fuel going up the hills so it sees more restriction.
