I have a 1987 F250 with a 6.9 N/A Diesel. I bit the bullet and replaced the injection pump and all the injectors since the injecters haven't been replaced since I bought the truck in 2005. Also replaced the return lines so everythigng is new. I remember having to crack the fuel lines going to the injectors but can't remember if I need to crack all of them or just a few. I'm finding out the batteries aren't up to working long so I've let the charger work to bring them up. Finally I"m getting fuel to some of injectors. but wondering if I need to close some of the lines instead of having all 8 open or cracked.
You don't have to do every one, but the more the better.
We have a truck @ w*rk with the 3408 in it. The knuckle-heads that drive it run it out of fuel a lot. (Even though we have a 550 gallon diesel storage tank there. )
You can only get to the right 4 injectors in that truck without raising the cab so that's all we do. It fires up on the 4, but runs like crap for a while.
I just tried started it again and have 3 injector lins with fuel coming out. Now I wait till i get the other 5 and I"ll be back in business. THANKS! Hope you have a happy Thanksgiving.
Went down to the shop after posting the last post and WE HAD IGNITION. Close up a few lose ends and I'll be back on the road. Still going to get the timing meter from the guy in California, "Icanfixall". Then I"ll be completely set. First time I had her set since 2005 when I bought it. Asked local shops and they told me if it runs good, run it. Seems like nobody wanted to set the timing here in middle Georgia.
that's cus no one has the meters anymore to do it right and all they can do,is set it good enough to run too.it's the honest ones like you found, that are the good ones, good enough to let ya know like that rather than taking your $.
i never mess with injector lines when priming (run out of fuel-only happened once, and then i adjusted the float so that E doesn't mean E yet lol) nor when adjusting the fuel screw/ip replacements.i just let the e-pump run.crank for 15 secs.wait 2 mins.crank for 15 seconds, and if it didn't start, wait another 2 mins and the next time she's running.
