As previously posted, I Have determined that my front springs are shot. One side worse than the other. Re Arching is not much cheaper than new springs, so I decided to go new.
My F-1 has a 302 in it and the motor mount has a cross tube directly above the front axle, which can be an issue if the truck is dropped too much. I am leaning towards going with an original height but would like to see what that would look like. Does anyone have a measurement of frame to ground in any place with original springs and 15 inch tires. That way I can jack the frame up and see it, and then have a reference point should I decide to use lowering springs.
Have installed TCI 2" drop front suspension.Changed stock oil pan on 302 to a rear sump to fit over x-member. At the rear of truck, I am attempting to use stock springs with 9" underneath. Spring packs had 9 leaves, removed 5 which dropped me 1 1/2". will fab new spring mounts, should bring me down another 1-1 1/2". My first build and am wanting to get it right the first time. Thanks to all with all the info posted, very helpful.
Keep in mind the tire size will have an effect on that measurement too. Measure from the center of the wheel to the ground for a more accurate measurement. The dimension from the axle to the frame is probably best.
