Confusing Electrical Issue
I have had a reoccurring problem while trying to start my 1998 F-150. Lately when I get in to start, there is a click then nothing. I mean you put in the key, turn to aux position and everything lights up and power is good (instruments, radio, voltage good, etc). Continue to turn to start and there is a click and then no power to anything. The truck behaves like a dead battery. However the battery is good. The trick to starting is removing the negative terminal from the battery and basically resetting the system. Once I do this, the truck will start once. If I turn it off and try to restart, then I need to reset again.
There is an electrical problem somewhere and any advice on where to look would be appreciated. The battery and fuses are good, but I'm thinking some sort of short being caused somewhere.

Sounds like you have a problem with your battery cable or ends . If you have an aftermarket bolt on cable end , they can corrode where the cable clamps in . Check All connections for corrosion .
