EBP you have to configure. There are others you may want to do as well if you have not already like FICM voltage.
GAUGE Exhaust Back Pressure
TXD 07E0221445
RXF 046285140645
RXD 3010
MTH 001D00500000
NAME EBP
Notes PSI

Moneypit I am sure you are aware oil is not as warm running because it is flowing. Otherwise we would toast the oil at every 1250 deg pull. Once shut down oil supply stops and what resides in the turbo will bake to turbo temps. So turbo cools and oil warms, at some point they will merge temps. Won't be 400 in this example but warm. There are kits to supply oil for minutes after shutdown to address this as I am sure you are also aware.

Since we are talking pre-turbo EGT the turbo should be warmer than the now idling air from the engine. It was a pain to get into the turbo to read with my cheap laser pointer so I let the thought go a few years back. I thought about a K wire on the turbo to see actual housing temps.

But we are digressing. The problem here is why his engine is putting out 400+ air temps at an idle in the winter no less. Or should I say higher than normal idle temps.

I just looked through my list of codes and found it. Not sure why I didn't have that programmed in, but I'll get it there now.

Actual data from this AM: 28 degrees, put into park at an EGT of 515. It took 1:25 to cool to 400 degrees. No A/C, radio, or other running.

Nope. Need to do that too, but as it's running fine otherwise, I'm not expecting much to show up.

Yep. Not sure how to rule that out though. I'd think that if that's the problem, it would soon completely fail.

apparently I miss read somebody's post. I thought they were saying that since EGT's were 400 that the oil temp was 400. could be incorrect EGT reading, over fueling, or not enough air.what brand EGT gauge are you using?

How much oil is actually left in the turbo? Shut the engine off and there is no more oil flow into the turbo and what is still there will drain thanks to gravity
