So I have a 97 f250 with a 351w in it. It has the automatic e4od transmission in it. But I was thinking of putting zf 5 speed transmission in it do to the fact that my speed switch module recently went bad and I had to have my cluster rebuilt. But I was wondering what would I get better power with?
Changing the transmission to a ZF (or any other manual trans) in your truck is a major undertaking. You'd do better to leave it as is. And watch out for changing tire diameters, that's one way to kill the PSOM in the speedo cluster.
Thanks bud. And that answered another question I had by changing the tires diameter what does that effect. Because when we bought the truck the guy had to different sets of tires on it but the rear tires weren't the same size or diameter as the front tires.
Yea, I don't recall where I found that info, but way back when I had my 95 E150, I had changed tire diameters several times and the speedo went haywire, somewhere I read while researching it that the PSOM (or what ever it was) could only compensate for five tire diameter changes, that seemed to jive with what I had done with the tires on that van. Had something to do with the 4 wheel antilock braking system too, all four tires need to be the same diameter.
