Traded my Dually for the Ex. Just as much room up front and my dogs have a lot of inside room when traveling. I have hauled inside the truck but I prefer the trailer so inside stays nice. I can load the trailer over weeks and haul when full not worrying about tarps and looks. I pull a 7000 pound Baja trailer and only added Firestone airbags. Smooth and comfy. I like the softer ride of the Ex as I am getting a bit older and enjoy a truck capability with almost car soft ride. Floor board heat is normally from a lost heat reflector underneath? Might look under to see if the exhaust is still stock.
With an EX seating is versatile but also everyone is comfortable. I think of it as my minivan on roids. With the 7.3 I have enough power to go and pull anything and empty I still get 17-22 MPG depending on driving open highway or climbing the hills to my home. For us the dogs inside the truck during winters instead of outside in the snow and rain stinking up the house was the deal breaker.
Either way a camper shell would have worked too and still sit 6. I like the Ex.
