I have a thread on using a time sert. I've been fighting it. It's number 4 under and under the cowl, so I can't see in the hole. Figure this can be a thread about a possible plug removal.
I jammed my phone close to the hole, and took a bunch of pics trying to get a view in the plug hole.
My nephew (it's his truck I'm working on) thought it was blown out. Look at this pic please and tell me what you think?
Compressed air or a can of WD-40. Either will work. Can you tap it a bit to feel if it's loose(ish)? If it is there is a .0001% chance you can get it out without pulling the head...
I haven't been out to the truck since I started the thread. My back and shoulders are killing me after being on a stool next to this rig. Huge lift kit with 35" tires on it.
I was going to soak the hole in PB blaster over night. I haven't sprayed it yet. It's sitting in the driveway with dead tags so I could do multiple soaks as needed.
I have compressed air and a blow nozzle, but not sure I can get it in there due to the cowl. I was thinking of shop vacuuming the hole with a smaller hose taped to the end of the shop vac hose.
I told him that isn't a blown hole. It's got something in it. So I need to take a close look at the other nine.
I love the kid but he isn't mechanical so shame on me for not taking the time to investigate things more thoroughly.
Looks like the porcelain is busted off, but I can see something that looks like a hex. Clean it out and see if you can get a short socket on it. Maybe stick some wax in the socket to catch it
You can spray some tacky adhesive inside the socket or apply one layer of duct tape inside the socket (a strip). I can see the hex and bottom metal casing of the plug.
