steering column
Recently bought .y dream truck a 69 short bed. Rust free and powder coated frame. It came with no steering column. I heard I can use one out of a ford van with tilt. what years can I use? How easy is this conversion?

Ford van column/steering shaft is too long (but good for spare parts if you find one). You need a tilt column from a '78/'79 F-100 through F-350 truck or from a '78/'79 Bronco.
I believe tilt was only (optionally) available on the higher end models.
You will either have to have an automatic transmission or a manual with the shifter in the floor. The tilt didn't come with manual shift on the tree.
A number of critical parts for the tilt column are not available new so, whatever column you may find, make sure the tilt mechanism is in good shape.
I recently installed a tilt column (for an automatic transmission) and a Saginaw power steering gear box in my '69 F-100, that came out of a '78 F-150.
