Hello FTE members, I found a really good deal on a 1975 ford f250 that already has 4.56 gears and I want put a 6" lift on it and can't find one. I really don't wanna make one either, and I was wondering if I could put a 1997 ford 350 lift on it, thanks.
You may only be able to find a 4" lift from the big name companies. The 6" lift for the 77-79 low boys should be the same as exact kit as the 4" lift kit for the 73-76 trucks.
No you will not be able to put the lift kit on from that era truck. It would not be as simple as bolting on but not saying you could not make it work. I would say the big issue with the 1997 lift kit is the pin on the front leaf spring to align your axle will not be in the same spot as the older ford.
X2 on NO the newer year truck lift will not work for the reason stated. FYI the 73-77 have rear springs that are 2 1/4 wide and 77.5-79 are 3"
And it takes more than leaf springs to lift it correctly, longer brake lines, correct steering components like a drop pitman arm and adjustable steering link, rear axle shims to correct pinion angle.
And your 75 should be a low pinion front axle, so you are even more challenged to get that angle correct.
I would advice against drilling a different center pin, that is a cobbled up mess waiting to happen.
How bout if I drill my own holes and mount it my self, thank you
you are missing the point. the overall length, the front eye to center pin length, the spring width, and the bushing widths are ALL different. literally every conceivable dimension is different. by the time you have moved everything around you will realize that you could have just called National or Atlas in the first place and done it properly.
re-drilling leaf springs is a good way to waste a drill bit and an afternoon, then end up with a spring that will break. moving center pin holes on a leaf isn't a very good idea.
