Hi All, So today I replaced my headlight switch hoping that would fix the dash lights, which are totally dead (not even the high beam indicator or gear select light). Well this did not fix the dash lights but it did fix the dome light which can now be turned on with this switch (previously only the door switches turned this on). Of course I have checked the fuse before replacing the headlight switch, and I know some of the light bulbs are good (checked the gear select bulb when I changed the turn signal switch a couple of weeks ago). So what should I check next? Also, what are you guys using for a switched power source for stereos, tach's etc? I put a tach in today and rigged the power wire straight to the radio fuse by pushing the fuse on top of the stripped wire-obviously not a permanent way to do this.... Thanks!
I also forgot to mention that one turn signal indicator lamp works (the other I assume would be a bad bulb). Also does anyone know how to bench test a headlight switch with an ohm meter to see if the dimming function works? W I want to test my old one to see if it was bad, and perhaps the new switch was defective???

The dash dimmer is that round rheostat in the white housing on front of the switch. Last year the dash lights on my '77 started "not working" a lot and I took the OEM head light switch out and used contact cleaner to clean that area and the wiper ..... and I believe I added some tension to it (I tried to with small needle nose pliars?).
Cleaned the terminals and reinstalled .... they have worked great ever since.
Had they not worked, I was thinking of jumping the dash light terminal with a switch and just switch on / off .... but likely I would leave the extra switch on anyways and let the dash lights come on with headlights as I do now.
