Plug spit prevention?

Been keeping low profile as I research about the V10. The only question I have not really seen any extensive information on is if a small amount of the correct loctite on the plugs when torqued has given any aid to reducing the plug spiting as they loosen over time. Hope I didn't over look this but if I did please direct me to the correct topic.

Modular Motor plugs most likely tend to loosen up due lack of proper torque during installation. By that I mean 21-23 lbs/ft instead of the factory recommendation of 7-14 lbs/ft.

I also use nickel-based anti-seize and change plugs at 50K rather than the 100K they're said to last. While this might bring about disagreement from others its worked flawlessly for me as well as a few others too.

BTW my experience is based upon the 2 valve versions of this engine.

2 valve is the basis of my question. Thanks for the informative feedback. Don't see any negatives to buying a used V10 Excursion.

Anti Seize, torqueing and the correct plugs are best. I would definitely not Loctite spark plugs in.

Apart from the vehicle suiting your needs and you being able to easily afford driving and maintaining it there shouldn't be any real negatives.

Like buying any used car/truck check it out or have it checked out thoroughly before the purchase.

Installed correctly, V10 spark plugs will not spit out *****-nilly. That's been my experience.

When new to Ford's Modular Motor I was scared to death torquing plugs--was sure one ft/lb over the factory spec would destroy everything.

Then I found this here on FTE: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ead-heads.html

After that I've followed my settings and never had a single issue. YMMV of course.

To me the proper torque wrench is key to steel plugs in aluminum heads---I have a Wright 3/8" model that's used for nothing but these plugs. Its probably the most well cared-for tool I own despite it's quite a bit less expensive than many others in the tool box.

The other school of thought using factory torque but re-checking at 5-10K mile intervals never made a lot of sense to me. Then again I change plugs at 50K regardless claims they're good up to 100K.

I can't claim I've changed plugs hundreds of times but so far my specs---derived completely from FTE---have worked just fine.
