Thanks for the input guys !
We are still loving the Escape and enjoying its reliability.
When its 0 Deg. outside, we only have to drive 3/4 mi. down the road and its blowing warm air ! Amazing
Though I basically live in Cuba, it can get chilly when we visit the folks in Jacksonville. On our last trip it got down to 30 degrees. The Escape was blowing warm then hot air in less than 3/4 mile like Iowa Ford said above. Amazing how the engineers get the engine to warm up so fast. I'm digging that.
Update on the Escape.
We just traded it in after 4 years and 63,000 trouble free miles. not one bit of problem with it. Great little car, fun to zip around in town.
Just time for something new I guess.
We bought a new Edge.
Excellent. We will be keeping the Escape for another two years or so. Still runs great but I think a new battery is due. It was on the edge when I did a load test on it a few weeks ago. When we were in Jacksonville and it was cold one morning, it struggled a bit to start. 4 years for a battery is okay... it may be time to put in a new one.
Weird it just up and died, I mean it was totally gone.
My father - a totally non-authoritative source - tells me this is the way today's batteries behave when they die, I think the explanation was the manufacturing changes in recent years to reduce costs or meet EPA requirements or somesuch.
Scott, I had a 2 yr old battery do the same thing.
I shut vehicle off after 2 hour drive home, went back out 15 min later, 100% dead. Battery was OEM in a small truck. I was quite surprised as well.
We just test drove a 2013 Escape with the 1.6l echoboost. I'm a little leary of buying a used turbo not know how the previous owner treated it. And the carfax showed oil changes about once a year or 10K miles. That seems a little long. Even for synthetic. I was surprised that it didn't whine or show any turbo lag. And it had a great ride. But a little worried about the 107K miles on the turbo.
