You were pulling a 'little' bit higher rpm's then I usually do but the reason is my EGT's limit me. I've done some work on my turbo, a new hpop and I put my oil cooler back on so I'm hoping to get my EGT's down a little. After I pull the 5er again I will determine if I am going to put the water injection back on or not. Then after the water injection if I'm still not happy, I'm going to replace my IC with one of those fancy high priced ones to see if EGT's come down some more. If they don't, I give up! LOL
I think from what you have above your about right for stage 1's next
Think BIGGER!! :-) <cheesey grin >
Glenn.what ice does the mule have?
Curious if 7.3 vs 6.0 in real world use actually perform any different.and if like CX ic IS really at all more efficient ..air to water with a cooler of ice and water for the win lol!

Those high priced IC's will drop temps over a stock SD cooler by quit a bit.
You had the RPM's to shift to 4th, why keep it in 3rd and almost redline it the whole time? Was it just a matter of keeping the higher boost pressures?
I have had this truck since 2006 and no fuel leaks, the valley is dry (oh no i should not have said that). do you think i'm pushing the rpm limits when i pulled that hill in the video, i could have went higher but i didn't feel comfortable going into the red. It was the first time i have been able to pull that hill with out the egt's trying to go over the limits, so keeping the revs up did help with that. Am i at risk of dammaging the engine doing that ? I stayed in 3rd gear knowing that if i tried 4th egts would go up and i would slow down and then would have to down shift anyway.
That's interstate but I've been on some pulls that 'seemed' like it was over 6%.
For example, north end of CA on the Siskiyou mountain, going downhill going north it was all I could do to control my 5er. It didn't help that my wife was screaming in my ear, LOL
That being said, Im kinda surprised your EGTs didn't go up with your boost going down.
I didn't think anything over 6% was legal? Maybe that's just interstate

Sandstone mountain on I64 about 20 minutes from me is 7% grade for 5 miles. Actually, I think the last mile or so at the top is even steeper. That's the mountain Ford was testing the new SDs on a while back that Diesel Power Magazine did the article on. That is one of the mountains that is a true test for a tow rig. I may load my gooseneck up with something one day and go make a video on that mountain for a test of my own
