1971 steering columns

1971 steering columns
My '71 F-250 needs another column, for the second time in 6 months. It's acutally the shift tube that broke, but the mechanic wants a whole new column, but they are hard to find. I found a '71 f-100 column, but will it work for an f-250? It looks like it's the same in the pictures, but does anyone have any experience swapping columns from different models?

1971 steering columns
The F-100 throgh F-350 all use the same steering column. JUst remember there are different shaft lengths, but if the other 71 has the same steering (Power or manuel) you should be OK. If you have power sreering do not throw your old column away. It still has a lot of good parts in it and the shorter shaft is something a lot of guys could use making a P/S conversion
