Argh! (problems over the weekend)
Made some great progress on the rewiring of the 64 with the American Autowire harness. Got so far as getting the motor and front lights connected, ignition switch in, etc. starter engages, so it's all good. now I'm figuring get the new gas tank in from LMC (with the new sending unit) and guess what? Neither the tank nor the sending unit comes with the screws to actually ATTACH the sending unit to the tank. when i called LMC they said they don't carry the screws. I'm just amazed. I'll be questioning whether to use them again in the future.
So, figured I might as well get the steering column in that I bought last year, so I put that in and it's all bound up. WTF, I think. so i unbolt it from the dash, pull off the tube and try to turn it and it's BENT! What a pain. So now I'm going to be looking for another column. Or maybe I'll take this one out of the gear box (which i've never done but I'm told is a pain) and see if a machine shop can straighten it. I'm all ears on suggestions on THAT.
Sorry for the whining. I guess this is how these things go. Some good, some bad, but at least I'm getting somewhere. Still having fun, though!
I would guess LMC didn't send you the reinforcements that go on the upper edge of the tank either. They would assume you have all the original mounting hardware. I've got some help for you arriving in the mail within the next few days.
As far as the column goes, I got one out of the junk yard thinking it would be fine w new bearings, etc... Tore it all apart and spent $50 on various parts only to have a warped shaft that is no good.. Lol. Ended up buying an ididit column that bolted in in 10 minutes. Lol. Worth the money. Good luck man
