New owner (of old Ford) in NC...
Hello everyone,
My name is Jeff and I just became the proud owner of a very nice 1989 F-150 Lariat XLT. I have owned a few trucks in my life and as life dictated, they were replaced by other vehicles out of necessity whether it was work, kids, money, etc.
I have a mixed truck history. My first truck I got while I was in high school. It was left to me when my grandfather passed and was a 1977 Chevy Cheyenne. Unfortunately, a family member borrowed and drove the truck and ended up cracking the head due to not checking the coolant. I was devastated. Being in high school, I didn't have the funds to fix it. Someone I worked with at my job after school had a friend that built and raced cars and was looking for a newer truck for his father. So with a heavy heart I traded it to him for a running 1968 Ford. I lived in a neighborhood strict about vehicle tags and before I even got the truck on the road good, the property manager had it towed. Again, funds being what they were, I had to let it go. I then owned a 1972 Chevy step side with an inline six and three on the tree. Drove it for a few years and sold it (much to my regret now as it was in really good shape minus the wooden bed). Later I had a 1989 Chevy 1500 that again I drove for awhile until I needed a more family friendly vehicle and sold it to the company I was working for at the time to use as a yard vehicle.
So, for quite a few years now, I have wanted another truck. The kids are grown and I no longer have the dogs to cart to the vet so the SUV was not necessary. I had been looking for something relatively inexpensive, that I could work on myself if I needed to for the most part, and that was in decent shape to put a little money in to make it look good. Then I found it, my 1989 Ford F-150. (I'll post some pics soon)
I am here to talk about this and other trucks, post some progress on it, and hopefully get some help with questions for some of the things I may not have the experience to fix without a little help. Looking forward to being a part of the community.
Cheers,
Jeff
