i was wondering if anyone could help me out, i recently purchased the superchip #1705 tuner at the bloomsburg jamboree and when the dealer went thru and showed me how easy it is to tune he set it on the 70hp mode"safe tow mode". this is great, however i was wondering if i could go to the "off road mode" 90hp with out causing any trouble. the dude i got it off of said i need an exhaust and a turbo mod. i checked with s.c. tech and their reply was i didnt need anything as long as i was not towing more than 6000lbs. i feel confident with their answer but being cautious i was curious if any one could give me insight into what my limits are and is anyone running the different modes and what if any modifications. Best bet is to put an EGT gauge on it, that's the only way to know for certain. Personally, 90HP is too high my liking when it comes to towing without an EGT gauge. You ought to talk to the guy you bought it from and ask him why he feels the way he does. There are circumstances I don't know about such as the type of load, the grades you drive and the altitude, which should be discussed with him. Also, what do you mean by "turbo mod"?
