Issues with Riffraff Wheel!

I had a HPOP line pop a few weeks ago. So, since I had to do the HPOP lines, I might as well do the HPx. Since I was doing the HPx, I might as well do the FRx. And so on and so forth with CVD fittings, intake plenum inserts, plenum boots, a Riffraff compressor wheel, and EBPV delete turbo pedestal. I rebuilt the turbo while everything was down. Barders Turbo balanced the new wheel and shaft for me with a quickness.
So I put everything together over the last week and finished yesterday. I cranked it up and everything sounded fine. I babied it for about 30 miles running around to check everything out. Had to snug the rear FRx fitting and everything was good. Next was hard test drive.
Punch the tuner up to 120HP Race tune and back out of the driveway. Got out to a backroad and Hammer Down! This is when everything went south. This intense whistling noise started and my boost guage went to 32 PSI. While this was happening, the drivers seat was doing all it could to push me out of the way. I was apparently preventing it from going some where. It shifted and duplicated this a couple times and I went in to a time warp where I was traveling at 80mph.
So now, every time I press the gas, this strange force pulls the pedal down so I can hear this sweet whistle noise and watch my boost guage exercise. Does this go away with time?

Special thanks to Clay at RiffRaff and Barders Turbo. Both awesome companies.

What was the turn around time for Barders Turbo to get it back in your hands? How much did they charge?

Thanks

Sent it Monday before Veterans Day. Got it back Friday and that's with the mail not running Tuesday. It was $70 plus shipping.

That is a great turn around time. Did they give you any idea of how out of balance the 2 wheels were? And how did they mark it so you could line it back up to where it was balanced or was it just torque to spec? Could you see any grind marks where they balanced it on the turbine or compressor wheel?

Glad to hear all the hard work payed off You really had me going when I first started reading. LOL

They didn't tell me how out of balance they were. There were multiple grindings on the compressor wheel and exhaust side. It was marked with a paint pen. Very easy to line back up. Well worth the insurance to me.

The whistle is a bit much for me. If it was only happened when working it hard it would be one thing bit it is all the time. I have mostly gotten used to it bit I still notice it.
On the other hand I can peg my 30psi boost gauge on the high way with no load.

Interesting. I'm running the 11 vane stock-type wheel with the ported ATS housing and I hardly hear any whistle. It does make some different noises, but none of it is obnoxious at all IMHO.

That 11 blade for the ported housing will produce quite a bit less noise than the other one.

Clay, is there a performance difference between the two? I have a ported housing, and am thinking I need a new wheel. My ears ring louder than a turbo can sing, so I'm primarily interested in performance.

The 11 blade billet wheel we made for the ported housing will flow more than the 4/4 billet wheel in the standard housing.
