Interesting problem

We live in the UK, are selling our '08 6.4 Super Duty and importing a new F350 XLT 6.2 crew cab, long bed, 4x4 truck. Can some help please by explaining the pricing - I'm confused.

Windscreen Sticker Price : Approx $45,000

Rebates : What does this mean?

Discount : I suppose this is self-explanatory.

$mo : Don't know what this means.

No Hidden Fees : What could be hidden?

Title Fees : Would I have to pay these?
.
State & Local Taxes : I assume these would not be payable cause the
truck is being exported and I will have import
duty and local taxes to pay in the UK.

As I have no trade-in and don't require finance - does this give me any bargaining powers.

What I really want to know is how much to count out to take the truck out of the dealer's lot on the East Coast to a port.

Thank you, John

I replied to your first post also:

jeepnford said:

The sticker price is basically the full retail price. Rebates are most likely money back usually deducted from the sticker price. Incentives are usually money off or lower loan rates. I assume $mo is a monthly payment amount if financed. If you pay title fees could be dependent on the dealer. I think some of them will cover the fees.

----------------------------
Then I said:

I just bought a 2015 6.2 in early October. During that month, Ford was offering a $4500.00 Incentive (money off the sticker to get you to come in and buy the truck) - they also offered another $1000.00 off if I financed with Ford.

I have never seen a "Rebate" on a new vehicle

The dealers themselves can "Discount" the sticker price but that's rare when there's a large "Incentive" from Ford.

jeepnford has the rest right!

Incentives

I just checked Incentives for this month:

1.) $3,000 Customer Cash (PGM #12638) +
2.) $1,500 Snow Plow Pkg. Bonus Cash (Buy it with a Snow Plow) +
3.) $1,000 Commercial Connection Upfit (You need to own a business for this) +
4.) $1,000 Ford Credit Bonus Cash (PGM #12644) which requires Ford Credit financing.

...so the best you could probably do is $4000.00 (#1+#4) off sticker price.

Hi jimd1050 & jeepnford,

Thank you both for your responses - don't know how the double post appeared.

I'm getting the idea now. I see Gator Ford, Florida are offering a $4000 rebate off most F250 XL's and XLT's this month and one truck with a $2815 discount as well, making a $52,776 truck $45,960.

I am assuming these savings would not apply if I had the truck built - is this correct?

Depends on WHO you are buying the vehicle from..... Do you go thru a Ford dealer in your home country? Or buy directly from Ford in Detroit.....but I don't think that they do direct buys to the consumer (you). If you go through a local dealers, any dollars off woul probably come from them.

"jeepnford" - yep, but correct me if I'm wrong - I think it's whatever incentives are available when the truck arrives, not when you order it? That actually sucks... they could be better when you order it but you'd lose that waiting for it to be built.

John, as for the Gator Ford deal... contact them directly and tell them what you're thinking about doing. They should be able to help... I can also recommend the Salesman I bought mine from if you'd like, here in Massachusetts.

"Incentives" would be anything that ford or the dealer is offering to get you to buy the truck, so a "Rebate" is an incentive, as is any other discount or a lower interest rate on the financing.

Thank you all for your help and advice.

Ordering a truck and not knowing the price with rebates, if any, deducted when it arrives sounds a bit scary to me and I would feel uncomfortable with that.

If I were to make a commitment in the form of a deposit or written agreement on a truck to be built, I would expect a commitment from the dealer as to what it will cost when it arrives and not "it depends upon what incentives apply at the time of delivery".

My buddy will be buying the truck for me in the New Year while he's on holiday with his wife in North America. I'll ask him to shop around and not to order the truck unless he gets a good deal and definite price.

The dealer can give you a price without any rebates included, then when the truck comes in and you finalize the purchase the currently available rebate would be applied which would mean that the cost to you is lower than the original dealer price by however much the rebate is at the time.

When I ordered my '15, F-250. Dealer said he had "locked in" the rebates that were in place when the order was placed. However, if incentives/rebates got better when truck was delivered, then I was eligible for the improvements. Bottom line, I would never be any worse off than what was available on the day I put down my deposit.

Tax & License Fees should be waived if it will be transported by a company directly to the exportation company from the dealership. More than likely the transportation company will need to have a Bill of Laden at the time of pickup with anyone of the Exportation or Transport Companies: Motor Carrier Permit Number(MC), Department of Transportation Permit Number(DOT) or Federal Maritime Commsion Permit.

In regards to the rebates, you will be surprised how many rebates they can give to knock down the price, but in reality they will make the money back somehow.

Thanks again for the latest posts.

Wingnut - just what I wanted to hear. A dealer prepared to commit on the price including rebates at the point of ordering a build - great.

I have also found the thread "I messed up" a couple of pages back in this section. A very useful buyers' guide.
