Hi All,
I am a new member and novice in participating in forums. I think I managed to introduce myself to the wrong forum. I think I might be in the right one now. I have a 1953 F100 in very original un-restored condition other than having a supercharger fitted. I have issues sometimes that I cannot find answers for and thought that I might find the help I need here.
One issue I have is finding some seat spring helpers that are fitted to the drivers side of the seat. I need another two to stop my wife bouncing uncontrollably every time we go over a speed hump. Very funny but very uncomfortable for her. I saw a very old thread talking about these helpers but I do not think anyone knew much about them.
G'day Dave, I wish. The cause of all the bounce are the infuriating SPEED HUMPS placed every 1/4 mile or so on almost all suburban streets over here. So there is a lot of bouncing going on.
Ross, you are correct, damper is the right terminology. The SC barley gets a chance to get angry over here. 100km (60M) per hour speed limit on highways and 110km on a couple of freeways. Speed cameras everywhere, red light cameras and every other possible way to keep the road toll down and revenue up makes people watch their speed and behave on the roads or become a pedestrian.
Yep. Totally agree. They've taken the fun out of driving with their over zealous speed limit placement. This is the main reason why I sold my beloved RX7 FD. You were never able to let its hair down.
Love the truck! Never seen a blower on a flathead! Looks mad as hell. Can't help you with those seat damper things, tho.
Maybe it's just me, but those dampers look more like something that would jab you square in the **** rather than control bouncing. I think I'd be more likely to find a good interior guy to help rebuild the seat.
Welcome to the forum.. Can not help with the spring accessory you picture. Never have I seen any thing like that.
That is one sweet truck. Love the forced induction system.
Welcome to the forum from SC. I have a pair of those dampers on the drivers side of my stock 54 bench seat but I've not seen any others anywhere. Beautiful flathead truck.
Ken
I got a salvage seat (stock) from a 1955 f 500 to use in my pickup, the seat was in great shape and it had those dampers on it just like your photo, I have 3 other trucks with none, so I'm thinking it maybe a big truck thing, so check the bigger trucks
Notice that the book says there are only two.
I ran out and checked my truck and I have two under the drivers seat but none on the passenger side. So, they were not intended for the passenger, but I'm sure it would help.
Since they attach to the springs they would provide extra support without jabbing you.
Thank you for all the help in finding the parts I need. Ross, I have made inquiries from the source you suggested, much appreciated.
I am pretty sure that Ford would have only fitted the dampers to the driver's side and the passenger suffered. I doubt that I could drive my truck safely with the original seat (without dampers) and original suspension.
Hold up a sec...
Everyones yakking about the seat I want to hear about the supercharger, fits under the hood with no modification, who makes it and how did it get in there,
