Is that a step inserted into your hitch?? Any better pics of it? WHere did you get it? How much?
-The Great
It's a "Rhino" and inserts into the receiver hitch. Was about $60 and got it off Ebay. Definitely functional - would protect the bumper if anyone were to tap you in a parking lot or low speed at a stop light and easily supports my 225 lbs when I step on it...
I keep my hitch in mine year round. You don't know how many times i have came out of Walmart or some such place to find someone that has hit my hitch. One such person actually had the ball wedged between their license plate and their bumper... HOW DO YOU NOT FEEL YOURSELF HITTING MY TRUCK??!!!! I even park out in the back part of the parking lot, but people seem to congregate around the Excursion.
I will put that Rhino on my shopping list. I thank you... and so does my knees/shins..
One thing. the rust doesn't`t come from the weatherstrip. it comes from inside the door at the door seam. water and junk collect inside at the bottom of the door. this is what causes the rust, from the inside out!
I don't think mine did. It was pristine on the inner surfaces. I actually used a grinder to create an extra slot to make sure they would have no problem draining, and it looked great inside, horrible in the outside pinch weld between the inner and outer pieces.
I am not saying the rubber actually does it, but it holds the scuz in the vulnerable interface between the two pieces of metal on the outside. If it were actually coming from the inside as you stated, it would be rusting out the outer skin just as bad as the lip at the seam.
