Thumbs up First Ford F150

Hello Ya'll,
My name is Sam. I am 23 years old and I just purchased my first Ford Truck. (1998 F150 4.2L 4x4 5-Speed Manual, 90k Original Miles) I made the purchase for $2,500.00 on November 12th. Truck is immaculate inside and out (Minus some Corrosion from salt on some hardware when the previous owner failed to clean the truck out). No engine issues (no knocks, ticks, etc). Manifold Gaskets & Spark Plugs replaced (to prevent hydro-lock, common issue with this year) When I purchased it I knew it required some work to take it to 300k+.

I would classify myself as a Adept Novice- Intermediate DIY'er. I've replaced air intake manifolds, fuel pumps, radiators, various gaskets, power steering pumps, and shocks. I have some experience changing out front end components but not much.

Work I plan on doing to my Truck includes:
New Master Cylinder / Brake Booster
Run new (previously assembled) brake lines
Replace Brake assemblies (Drum, shoes, spring kit, interior repair kit)
Replace Power Steering pump
Replacing Fuel Pump/Filter
Replace Leaf Spring Shackles/Bushing
Do a New undercoat with 3M
Replace Controller Arms (Upper/Lower), Idlers, Tie Rods, & Shocks
Spray in Bed Liner

Overall I'm looking at around $2000 in parts to pretty much make this truck run for the next 300k miles.

When I replace the Leaf Spring shackles I plan on lifting the bed off of it and spraying it with bed liner & replacing the fuel pump/hoses etc.

If you guys have any other suggestions feel free to comment. I am by no means knowledgeable beyond what I have done in the past. I am also budget conscious and am open to cheaper reputable part shops (online or physical).

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Big Sam.

Welcome to the forums! Good find with the truck. Nothing better than a truck you can work on while you can drive it.

If you ever need suspension parts feel free to send me a message!
