What improvements were there to the engine? I didn't think it changed at all until later
From what I have read on here the heads were changed including more threads for the spark plugs, the intake manifold was also changed. They are known as PI heads. The 99's like we have are non-PI heads. Power rating changed from 275hp to 310hp.
I think you should definitely go test drive it. If it doesn't have the pep you want, you can always change the gears. As a whole, that one would be a very nice upgrade.
If those bed sides rusted, you definitely need to look it over very well. Mine was clean when I bought it, it was hit at the dealership after getting detailed, they paid to have it repaired, and the bed side that was repair started rusting. I do not think this is coincidence... I've been correcting rust all summer and fall between my 2 trucks. The worst part is they rust from the inside out....
