Hey all, I was looking for my horn relay, BUT thanks to some threads here I have realized that, since I don't have cruise, I don't have a relay. My problem right now is I started checking fuses and found that they are all good BUT the horn doesn't work. It takes a 30 amp fuse but when I put the fuse in It blows immediatley. I am not working to hard on the cab right now as I am currently busy redoing the rear frame, springs, hangers etc. But I am trying to brainstorm the problem. I have noticed that my Speedometer isn't working, and the Fuel Guage needle is all the way to the right. When I turn the truck on the other guages appear to work, Lights all function light switch (dash) and wipers work as well. When I look at the Wiring Diagram I see the Horn and CIgarrette lighter are on the same circuit. I neeed to check that as well. Any ideas before I start digging into my dash?
Thats what I thought, I have rebuilt an 84 and an 86 and am used to the relay being out under the hood below the hood hinge in front of the driver. I haven't gone into the Dash yet, but I see my EEC and my fuel pump relay out under the hood but so far no Horn relay (or any cut wires that might indicate someone removed it). Reading on here (FTE) someone said that if the truck did not have cruise, it would not have the Horn Relay... When I look in the Wiring Diagram (HAYNES) it shows the relay with the horn and Lighter joined together.... I was just checking the other day for blown fuses and discovered that the horn fuse blows immediatley which means I have some strong "juice" going through it. JUst trying to play with it in my head before I dig into it...
