Can you tell by this tag number if this truck was just blue or was it 2 tone. 1964 F100. I think from what I heard it was 2 tone Blue and White although it looks like all the door jambs were Blue. Did they just paint the outside above the trim White and leave the inside of the jambs Blue. Thanks for any info. David
I'll give you pretty much a complete decode of your warranty plate information, and hope to answer some of your paint questions with some pictures. F10 = F100 2 wheel drive truck. J = 223 cubic inch 1 bbl I-6 engine. D = Dallas, TX assembly plant. 552144 = assembled in June, 1964. 114 = wheelbase in inches. VM = two tone exterior paint. V = Academy Blue. M = Wimbledon White. F100 = 5000 pound Gross Vehicle Weight rated half ton truck. B81 = blue interior upholstery (ND will have a better description). A = 3 speed light duty manual transmission. 12 = Ford 9 inch non-limited slip axle with 3.89 gears. 5000 = GVW rating. 114@3600 = NET horsepower rating and the rpm where achieved. 647840 = Domestic Special Order from the New Orleans district sales office. 64 = New Orleans. 7840 is the rest of the special order number, but all information as to what was special has been lost to history. Frequently it has to do with exterior paint, but when that happens, the exterior paint spot is usually left blank - not the case for you. So your guess is as good as anyone elses. As far as I know, if your paint scheme wasn't the special part, then it should look similar to the factory two tone paint on my '66 when I brought it home. Here are 3 pictures (one showing the door jamb) that may help you with your paint job. Good luck!
SuperSabre , Thanks so much , that clears up most of my problems, I was having issues with the doors and cab colors. Was the white in the bed rolled over about a inch down the flat piece inside the bed sorta like tailgate is. Thanks David
