Your truck should pull weither your using the tow/haul mode or not. The advantage to the tow/haul is the tranny will stay in the powerband (1800-3600 rpm) before shifting and the torque converter will stay locked longer/more often. Especially when slowing down or coming to a stop, it will help keep from burning the brakes up. Pretty sure once you figure out what's going on...life will be grand.
