so i have had an oil leak on my truck almost all summer. it is at the back of the passenger side valve cover. the leak was pretty heavy and leaking all the way down my oil pan. i replaced my valve cover and gasket, but the leak came back, but is a little less than before. there was a little rust residue on the old gasket and i am hoping its not a major repair. the truck is a plow truck so i wont be surprised if something is rusted through. only has 125k though.
Is your valley dry because it will leak out the drain hole right by the valve cover if something is leaking up top. Clean every thing up and after a ride shine a light up there and see if its leaking from the valve cover. Mine kept leaking there so I finally pulled off the valve cover and on lip of the valve cover it was bent a little. I straighten it out the best I could and no leaks since.
i have had leaking problems in my valley, but they are all fixed now, and when they were leaking, there was no leak off the valve cover. i will check if anything is bent. thanks for the advice.
If the valley is dry and valve cover isn't leaking thn the only other spot it can come is oil rail plug. Not hard but can be a pain in the azz for big hands/arms

thanks a ton for the help. if that isnt it, could it be possible that my head or something is rusted through?
