I came outside and there was a puddle underneath my truck when I got where I was going. It was about 40 this morning so could that just be condensation? Or how can i tell if it's coolant??
Can you tell where it's coming from? Front, side or middle of the truck? It's possible it's condensation running off the truck, the seasons are changing.
1. Condensate from the a/c. (If you use the defrost it runs the a/c to dry the air regardless of the temp you select)
2. Power steering fluid. Some brands have no or little color.
3. Coolant. A weak mix could look clear yet feel slimy.
4. Brake fluid. Clear (when it's fresh) and slimy feeling.
I suggest keeping a very close eye on the levels of the fluids, especially the brake fluid. If it's leaking enough to leave a puddle, the level will be dropping noticeably and very soon. If no levels are dropping after a week or so I'd relax and think it's condensate water from the a/c. And again, I'd double check that brake fluid level before driving it.
Kind of an afterthought, but diesel fuel could look clear in that situation but it smells pretty strong. I kinda skipped it but if you "smeller" doesn't work well that may be a possibility also. Check the brake fluid again .
