460 swap question

So here is a good one for you guys.

I am swapping a 460 in place of a 302 in a '79 2wd. I bought the perches and engine mounts from L&L and I had problems with the right one lining up on the bolt holes. they sent me another and it was exactly the same. All but one hole lines up.

Fast forward.

I accepted that I would need to drill a hole so I went to set my engine in and the Canton pan I have that says it will fit a 2wd hits the cross member on the right side.

I set the engine in without the pan on and he engine is sitting right of centre quite a bit.

Can someone else with a '79 460 2wd measure from the crank bolt to the inside of the frame rail on each side and post the results. I just want to make sure it is sitting where it should be.

I think if ya measure your other truck you will see that the engine in that rig is also offset to the passenger side.

Does the Canton pan have kickouts or is an extra capacity pan? Its square shoulders might be the cause.

I'd leave that bolt out and drill another hole in a area you can reach.

Thanks guys. HIO, that would be an awesome idea but I sold the '78. I guess I better update my sig.

The pan does have kick outs so if it ends up the engine is sitting where it should be I think I will just trim the passenger side kick out.

that's the plan JS but I just wanted to make sure everything is where it should be before drilling the hole.

It should look like this .. I don't believe the motor is off set on a 2wd .. This is a 1974 F100 - F150 2wd chassis ..

Take a look at this kimosabe....

See the 1.5-inch offset of the engine vs the chassis centerline?

redroad, that is exactly what I have and I see your bottom rear bolt on the passenger side doesn't line up either.

Thanks HIO, that is exactly what I needed.
