I don't know if the date stamped on the cab of is the build date, but it's good enough for me.

I've seen the ink stamp date before on 48 trucks. I grabbed a pic of one once and it's a different style than yours. I'm sure that varied by assembly plant. It corresponds close with the firewall stamping build date code (one day off) so I'm thinking it's pretty reliable to determine your truck's birthday. Very cool.

here is a pictures of an early 48 F-3 with the date painted just under the firewall tag. I guess I should have taken a better close up picture of it.
