Oh and I'd say stick with either the 4" or 6" and get some 37s, that'll look awesome and still be semi functional if you do need to use it as a truck. Also a little easier to get the kids in and for your wife to get in the truck

Another 2" never hurt anyone... I do agree that it would make it difficult to use the bed at all. The 6" is a pain most days.

In other news, as I continue my research, I found that ReadyLift makes a 5" system. Watched a video of the install and it looks like a nice kit as well, utilizing an add-a-leaf system along with a block for the rear. Springs and a new radius arm for the front, shocks included for a similar price to the BDS. One difference I notice with the install video is they install a driveshaft spacer in the rear. I haven't seen this noted in other kits... Anyone have thoughts on why these guys would have it but others not?

Okay, the Warden (wifey) has given me the nod for the lift, wheels & tires!
I'm looking at a BDS 4" - 4 Link (as stated early) that's pretty much set in stone. I talked to BDS about the quad shock option, he actually said with the way the truck will be used, he didn't recommend it, I will be getting the adjustable track bar, glide ride rear spring pack, etc...

When researching wheels & tires, I'm not sure which to go with (size wise) It will either be 35's or 37's. Is there anyone that is running 37's on a 4" lift? My only concern is rubbing, I have a few friends that are running 35's with a leveling kit with no issues, it stands to reason you should be okay with 37's on a 4" lift (with the correct offset and back spacing, of course.) Any thoughts?

I haven't seen 37's with 4" only, but as you say, playing with backspacing and tire width will be the only way to know. The trucks with 37's and a 6" lift look very proportional.

Personally if I were lifting 4", I would stay with a 35", this would give me more freedom with wheel choices, or to run stock wheels... I will likely stick with stock wheels when I get around to lifting.

How soon do you plan on lifting Rigtrash?

In the next few weeks, stuck offshore at the moment. I will say this, it is a PITA trying to get the wheel and tire package you want! Right now, after all the different combinations, I'm looking at 20 x 10" wheels and 35" tires, but obviously, the 35 x12.5 x 20 is the most popular size, extremely hard to find the tires. Waiting on the custom shop to open this morning to discuss everything and get the ball rolling, It may come down to running a 6", we'll see...

What tires are you considering? How are your winters?

After talking to everyone out here and around the house, Toyo Open Country MT's. Most guys around here have tried the Toyo's and Nitto's, but seem to get better tread life from the Toyo's on these SD trucks.

As far as winter, not really an issue.. wet traction concerns me more, but I need more of a MT than AT tire, so will have to accept the tradeoff.

Thats cool. I have Kelly Fierce/Attitude on my Cummins work truck. They're 325/65r18, which is around 35". I like them except they're very, very poor in icy conditions to the point where I'm considering getting a set of studded Duratracs for the winter.

When I lift my F350, I'll be going with more of an AT tread tire.

I see you mentioned "may have to run the 6 inch"... Just do it already...

The exact setup that I plan to run in the 6" is a little over $1,000.00 more, and I'm getting older and a little more portly so..... using the bed may be an issue. We'll see, oddly enough, if I run the 6", the tires and rims (from the installer) will actually be the same for 22 x 12 with 37's as the 20 x 10 and 35's. Availability I suppose (guys pushing to install the 6"!) I'm trying to get a little more clearance and retain the trucks functionality, but I have a bad habit of impulse purchasing and getting things I "want" instead of "need"!

This is a picture off the BDS site. Its the 4" with 35" tires. I may even go this route, as I love the stance of this truck. It's the same color and everything as mine, and my plans were to get the flares also. Basically identical to this truck.

For those wanting 37s on a 4" lift, stick to an 8.5" or 9" wide rim with 5.5" to 5" of backspacing. That will keep the rubbing and the trimming to a minimum. If you want more of stanced look, you'll need to space your bumper forward and cut the driver side inner fender, or fold it back. For comparison:

I've said this before, Mitch, but again, I'm almost 100% certain I could clear 37's on the little leveling/350 blocks "lift" I've got, so if you went with a true 4" lift, you absolutely could (and should, imo ) run 37's to keep the wheel well gap to a minimum. Why do you feel the need (or do you just want) to get away from the OE wheels?

To my eye, 35's look perfect on my truck, so I'd have to lean strongly towards 37's on anything more than ~2" of lift.....

While I've been more than happy with my MT's, perhaps when these wear out I'll look a lot harder at their mileage warrantied AT2 or the new RT tires, jus sayin....
