My wife took (as a trade for owed money) a non-running 1987 F150 Supercab, longbed, dual tank. What would the approximate curb weight be, and what tow bar & accessories would she need to tow it home (with her F350) when she retires from the Navy next month?
Thanx in advance
I have used Sunbelt Equipment Rental tandem equipment trailers for PU's. They have the capacity, length and wheelbase needed, surge brakes which work pretty well and use a 2 5/16" ball. The tilt bed is nice for loading... with a stout come along for a non running truck. Around $60/day last time I rented one.
X2 on just using a trailer and the correct set up to hook the trailer to the F350, I would not flat tow the F150 unless it was a block or less.
Using a flat deck trailer it is a simple load, strap and go. And strap just the axles, NOT the bumpers. Strapping the axles lets the body and suspension do its thing (flex bounce roll) and NOT eat thru straps or get the chains loose.
Did she get the title and is it signed by the previous owner, other wise its a parts truck. And in the end will be hard to scrap whats left due to scrap yard requirements to have a title for that new of a truck.
